If you’re a web designer selling templates, you already know that creating a beautiful website isn’t enough.
Your template needs to feel like the website your dream customer has been saving to their Pinterest boards for the last six months.
And that’s where aesthetics become seriously profitable – the key to running a hihly successful template shop is to make sure you’re maximizing your time by only designing high-quality templates for the visual identities people are actively searching for, saving and buying into.
Pinterest analyses billions of searches and visual interactions when identifying emerging trends, and its 2026 predictions are already showing just how quickly specific aesthetics can move from niche interest to mainstream demand. Pinterest also reports that 88% of its predictions over the last six years have come true, meaning these aren’t just pretty moodboards — they’re useful signals for what consumers will want next.
So, if you’re planning your next template launch, here are the five web design aesthetics I’d have firmly on your radar for 2026 and 2027!

1. Editorial
Editorial design has been around for a while, but it’s becoming much more mainstream outside of fashion and magazines. Modern web design and minimal web design have become two of the most searched for design terms on Pinterest this year.
The editorial aesthetic is bold yet refined – intentional, oversized type, beautiful photography, interesting layouts, lots of white space and websites that feel more like an art-directed publication than a standard business website.
It’s particularly strong for wedding photographers, fashion photographers, creatives, stylists, interior designers and luxury personal brands.
There’s some interesting evidence behind this in the wedding industry. Pinterest reported a 1,531% increase in searches for “editorial wedding photos”, alongside increases for film, cinematic and documentary wedding photography. That matters for template designers because customers aren’t just searching for a type of business anymore. They’re searching for a specific look.
Why it’s profitable
Editorial is also easy to adapt across different niches. A well-designed template can work for a photographer, creative director or fashion brand with relatively small changes to the imagery and copy. This is GREAT for your template business because it means you can repurpose the teplate over and over again for a range of niches to maximize your potential profits!

2. Old Money
Amalfi Coast, the South of France, nostalgic romance and vintage summer vibes are dominating moodboards for every niche this year.
The old-money aesthetic has evolved into something much more relaxed and romantic for 2026 and 2027. It’s less about looking wealthy and more about creating that effortless European summer lifestyle people are constantly saving on Pinterest – warm neutrals, butter yellow, soft blue, terracotta, olive, chocolate brown and plenty of sun-soaked photography. Think Italian summer meets French Riviera meets 90s fashion editorial.
It’s already showing up heavily across fashion and interiors, with Pinterest’s 2026 summer trends highlighting a return to polished, nostalgic styling — including a 698% increase in searches for 90s minimalist style.
Why it’s profitable
It’s a particularly good aesthetic for the highest-paid niches to adapt into their branding because it’s centred around a wealthy customer and aspirational lifestyle. Wedding photographers, travel brands, fashion, interiors, hotels, lifestyle businesses and personal brands are ALL searching for the old money aesthetic so the template possibilitis are endless.

3. Bold Feminine
We’re also seeing a move away from the soft, muted “feminine” branding that’s dominated template shops for years. Bold feminine is about confidence, personality and being a little more unapologetic: strong typography, punchy colour, statement photography, oversized headlines, confident copy and feminine details without making the whole thing feel overly delicate.
This is a strong direction for female coaches, business coaches, mentors, course creators and personal brands. These businesses are selling the person as much as the service, so their website needs to communicate confidence and authority from the first few seconds.
Why it’s profitable
Coaches are a particularly good template audience because their website is often central to their business — it’s where they introduce themselves, sell programmes, collect leads and establish credibility.
A bold template also gives you a much stronger marketing angle than simply calling something a “feminine coach template.” Searches for Bold Business Coach Website and Bold Showit Template for Female Coaches will give you much higher visibility and potential for sales conversion.
Those are much more distinctive positions — and they speak directly to the kind of woman who wants her website to feel confident, successful and completely her own (which every femal entrepreneur does!)

4. Pink
Pink is having another moment, but this isn’t the soft pastel pink “girly” branding we’ve seen before. It’s all about using color intentionally to command attention, and show that you aren’t afraif to go bold or go home.
Because this trend relies on impact, it’s important to use pink in an intentional way. My most successful templates of 2026 have used a combination of color and minimalism, with bright canvases and more subtle accents in other visual elements.
Tailwind’s Pinterest keyword search feature shows that ‘Pink aesthetic’ is one of the highest ranked aesthetic search terms right now, and one of the easiest for designers to find success within as it’s such a new trend!
Why it’s profitable
A color isn’t attached to just one niche – Regardless of the space you work in, you can incorporate a color into your branding and make it work for the demands of your business and your customer. This means that designers have an infinite number of niches to design for with pink inspired templates, and proucts can be repurposed time and time again. Plus, pink is such a bold color that it will make your templates stand out from the pack on Pinterest to boot yourengagement and win even more sales.

5. Movement & UI
This is less of an aesthetic trend, but plays a HUGE role in what your potential customers are searching for when they’re choosing their next template. Every trend report this year is highlighting how important movemen and flowing transitions are in web design for 2026 and 2027. Static websites will NOT cut it anymore, Static websites are starting to feel a little dated. For 2026 and 2027, we’re seeing more designers use movement, interaction and playful UI to make websites feel more immersive.
That doesn’t mean adding an animation to absolutely everything. The best examples are much more subtle — The goal is to make interactions feel playful and engaging, yet completely natural. Movement HAS to feel intentional – scroll-triggered animations, text that moves or changes, image reveals, hover effects, animated buttons, parallax, sticky sections and interactive galleries that make websites feel like something you can genuinely explore, rather than just a collection of pages.
This is particularly suited to creative agencies, photographers, web designers and creatives, because customers are seeking technical knowledge in the people they invest in. A website that feels technically impressive will communicate their high-level skills, instantly.
Why it’s profitable
Interactive design is a great selling point for template designers because it makes a template instantly more premium – not every designer knows how to incorporate beautiful transitions, so this gives you a leg-up from the start. It’s such an easy way to differentiate skill in a crowded marketplace: Two templates might have similar layouts, but the one with beautiful transitions and interactive details will immediately feel more custom-designed, legit, and worth the investment.
Plus, creating more technical templates means you can increase the price!
