The logo design process is called a process for a reason. It all starts with a phone call or an e-mail to figure out what it is you are looking for. I worked with Mind Rising to develop their first logo for their new practice in Marin County, CA. There were three options to choose from and the final being a combination of two of them. As you can see from the design options the style direction was set long before any designs were created. This is the key to the success of the final logo and getting the desired result with the shortest time possible.

How to grow your sub brands with an existing logo

So let’s say you paid a designer to create your logo for you, but are now stuck because you have expanded your services in other areas but your logo doesn’t reflect that. Enter the sub brand. Alaka’i Crossfit was branded as a crossfit gym but now wanted to branch out into other exercises and classes that they offered and are appealing to a completely different target market. The solution was to take their existing main logo and remove Crossfit so that it could expand. Then I created the crossfit as their sub brand and also sweat which is a different class. Color coding the sub brands help them to stand alone while the colors speak to different audiences. Some fun beachy patterns finish it off to use on their social media posts, posters and website.

This will be one of the hardest things you will ever have to do. After dealing with many startups over the years I know that this is the single most crucial thing you have to get right in the very beginning before you do anything else. This may seem like a walk in the park. I mean you obviously know what it is that your business will do right? Not necessarily. Take some time out and get organized. Make sure you have all the partners on board and moving in one seemless direction. I have seen many times organizations that have too many cooks in the kitchen and no one is driving the train. Without direction, you will crash and burn or spend countless dollars moving in the wrong direction only to have to turn around and start all over from the beginning.

Remember, organization is key. Here is a general guideline of things to do before you get started:

List out all the members of the company and the role they will play in developing the brand for the company. Hint – pick a leader
Write down all the things your company will offer. Services, products, software, etc. Be sure not to leave the little things out.
What is your primary focus for the company?
How long do you want to keep the company? 5 – 10 years? Forever?
What is the objective of the company? Do you want to grow fast & then sell? Do you want to slowly build up and retire?
Will you be selling to the masses or to a niche clientele?
Will there be a need for what you are doing 10 years from now or will the company have to evolve and expand?

You don’t have a design and you need brand new concepts and designs from scratch to create your perfect logo. Our pricing range is based on several factors that can be discussed in our initial meeting. We offer unlimited changes on any logo design we do to ensure your 100% satisfaction with the result.

Branding Kit / $1899 – $2499

Professional branding is so much more than a logo and is essential to any successful organization. But what is it exactly? Think of your logo as a seed and your brand as the tree that grows from it. Google says: “The marketing practice of creating a name, symbol or design that identifies and differentiates a product from other products . An effective brand strategy gives you a major edge in increasingly competitive markets.” We agree.

How many initial logo concepts should you do?

There is no magic number that says how many logo concepts you should come up with for each client. I make that decision on a case by case basis. For example, if a logo design calls for a custom detailed illustration for each concept then I keep it to the minimum of three initial concepts. Six is the maximum that I normally do because any more than that can be confusing to the client and can dilute the work. The magic range is 3-6 concepts.
